The Maple-Glazed Brussels Sprouts That Bring a Canadian Touch to the Table

MAPLE-GLAZED SIDE DISH

Olive oil, maple syrup, a spoonful of Dijon. Toss them with Brussels sprouts, spread everything on a baking sheet, and the oven does the rest. Twenty-five minutes later the sprouts are golden, a little crispy and coated in a sweet, tangy glaze.

Serve them as a side dish, or pair them with Cabera organic steak-cut fries for a hearty meal.

Why this recipe works

• Maple makes it Canadian. Pure maple syrup caramelizes in the oven and gives the sprouts a distinctly Canadian touch.

• A glaze from the pantry. Olive oil, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper, tossed in one bowl.

• Fries on the side. Steak-cut fries bring a bold, bistro-style texture to the plate.

Prep: 10 min · Cook: 25 min · Serves 4

Ingredients

• 4 cups Cabera organic frozen Brussels sprouts

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 2 tbsp pure maple syrup

• 1 tsp Dijon mustard

• Salt and pepper to taste

• Optional: Cabera organic steak-cut fries, to serve

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Thaw the Brussels sprouts slightly for easier handling.

2. Toss the Brussels sprouts with the olive oil, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper in a large bowl.

3. Spread evenly on a baking sheet and roast for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway, until golden and slightly crispy.

4. Serve hot as a side dish, paired with organic steak-cut fries for a hearty, flavourful meal.

Meal-prep tip: Whisk the oil, maple syrup and mustard ahead and keep the glaze in the fridge. Reheat leftover sprouts in a hot oven so they crisp up again.

Make it your own

• Line the sheet. Parchment paper keeps the maple glaze from sticking to the pan.

• Add crunch. Scatter chopped pecans or walnuts over the sprouts for the last 5 minutes of roasting.

• Add heat. A pinch of chili flakes in the glaze balances the sweetness.

Keep a bag of Cabera Foods organic frozen Brussels sprouts in the freezer and a bottle of maple syrup in the pantry, and this side dish is ready whenever dinner needs one.
